South Tampa is on the water and we have a few beaches if you are up for taking a dip. The water is usually clean enough for this, but depending on the amount of recent rainfall or the tide, you may want to save your swimming for one of the Public Pools. Luckily, all of the area beaches are frequently tested to make sure that the water is safe to play in and you can check the most recent results here. There are several small beaches on Davis Islands, near the airport. One of them is a dog beach and you will always find people in the water there. Picnic Island has a nice big beach with shelters, grills, bathrooms, boat ramp, playground and a dog park. There is a tiny beach at Palonias Park at the base of the Gandy Bridge and if you cross the bridge you can find a spot to park along the water at the causeway park, aka Redneck Riviera.
